Alice at the Wall

Block print based on a chapter of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures Through the Looking Glass.

About the Project

Based on the sixth chapter of Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass, and What Alice Found There, this is a linocut print depicting Alice encountering Humpty Dumpty perched atop his wall. At the time of this creation, the 45th President of the United States was intent on building a wall along the border shared with Mexico.

A limited run of 25 prints was produced. The piece was also featured in the Thacher Annual exhibition at the University of San Francisco in 2018.

Inspiration

“It’s VERY provoking,” Humpty Dumpty said after a long silence, looking away from Alice as he spoke, “to be called an egg—VERY!”
